Abstract
The cognitive value and educating influencing of work of historical maintenance by means of artistically-vivid exposition of information is analysed in the article. On material of book "From Ukrainian old times" by Dmytro Yavornytsky's deposit is examined in the comprehensive study of history of Ukrainian Cossacks.
